Azmat Rafique - Head of Islamic Banking
Azmat Rafique is
currently the Head of Islamic Banking in Oman Arab Bank (OAB). He is
responsible for establishing and managing this new initiative by the
bank. Prior to joining OAB he was a manager in Islamic Financial
Services Group (IFSG) of Ernst & Young, Qatar. Besides his
consultancy experience he has almost ten years of banking experience in
Islamic, Corporate and Commercial Banking Groups of MCB Bank Limited
in Pakistan. During his banking career he served diverse business
concerns that range from local SMEs to renowned multinational companies.
Azmat completed his MBA Finance from Institute of Business
Administration, Karachi - Pakistan and MSc. Islamic Economics, Banking
& Finance from Loughborough University in the UK.
Dr. Abdulazeem Abozaid - Shari’a Manager
Abdulazeem holds
PhD and Master in Islamic financial law. He also holds three BAs in
Islamic law, Arabic language and English Literature; two higher studies
diplomas in Islamic law and in Human sciences.
He was Sharia expert and trainer at Emirates Islamic bank and a Shariah
board member and consultant for Islamic financial institutions,
including RHB Islamic bank in Malaysia, Mithaq Takaful Abu Dhabi and
Five Pillars Associates, Singapore. Currently he is holding the position
of Shariah Manger at Oman Arab Bank in Muscat, Oman.
Muhammad Tayyab Raza - Finance Manager
Muhammad is
Qualified Chartered Accountant and member of Institute of Chartered
Accountants of Pakistan. He has diversified experience in the fields of
accountancy, finance, Islamic commercial / investment banking, audit and
consultancy. He is also Certified Islamic Banker from State Bank of
Pakistan.
During his career, he has served many Islamic Financial institutions in
Pakistan and Bahrain. He has also served Ernst & Young, Bahrain in
Islamic Financial Services Group.
Shahood Alam - Manager IT Implementations and Product Support
Shahood Alam is a
committed Islamic banker with 8 years of banking and over a decade of
diversified corporate experience. He is presently managing IT
Implementations in setting-up Islamic banking window for Oman Arab Bank.
Earlier he managed Cash Management and eBanking functions for DIB and
HSBC-Pakistan.
Shahood holds MS (Systems Engineering) QAU-Islamabad, BE (Computer
Systems) from NED-Karachi and Bachelor of Commerce from Karachi
University. He also holds Diploma in Islamic Finance from CIMA-UK, a
Post-Graduate Diploma in Islamic Banking & Finance CIE-Karachi and
Certified Information System Auditor from ISACA-USA.
Khondkar Mohammad Rakibul Islam - Manager Product Development
Prior to joining
Oman Arab Bank, Mr. Islam was the Head of Product Development for
Islamic Banking Division of Standard Chartered Saadiq Malaysia where he
successfully lead the Islamic Product Development, managed the Product
team and implemented the country product strategies for Islamic Banking.
He has more than eleven years of banking experience with specialization
in Islamic Banking in the last four and half years. Besides Malaysia Mr.
Islam has also worked in Bangladesh and U.A.E as Senior Manager for
Standard Chartered’s Global Islamic Product team where he used to look
after six different geographies including entire GCC, Bangladesh,
Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
Mr. Islam has completed his Masters in Commerce degree with Major in Finance from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Mohammad Riza - Senior Treasury Dealer
Mohammad Riza is a
full time Islamic Banker Professional with more than 8 years of
experience in Islamic Financial & Treasury Management. Prior to
joining Oman Arab Bank, he was the Assistant Vice President and acting
as the Head of Treasury-Islamic Banking Unit of PT. Bank CIMB Niaga -
The Best Islamic Bank in Indonesia from Asia Money Award 2010.
He earned his MBA from GadjahMada University - Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He
also holds 4th Level Certified Risk Management from Global Association
of Risk Professional - Indonesia.
